Goal Motivation | Coffee Over Books

Good evening everyone! I discussed this a bit in my most recent video, but I would like to motivate you all a bit.

It’s February, nearly mid-February, and I’m sure that we have either given up on some goals from the beginning of the year or are trying to find the motivation to get them done.

I’m in the second category. So, for starters I’m going to review what my life goals were for this year. I am doing fairly well at my reading ones, I just need to read more books from my shelves. I’m not doing well at that.

Completely off topic, but I feel like talking about it, but I decided to get some blue light glasses of Amazon today. I am always on my computer and tablet or phone and that’s not something that’s going to slow or stop as I continue blogging and continue my career in publishing. So I decided to try them.

That being said, I’m supposed to wear glasses. If you didn’t know, I have really bad double vision that has just gotten worse with time. So a few years ago, I went to the eye doctor and they prescribed me some glasses to try to help with it. The problem, I think I look dumb with them on and they don’t work. Now, obviously I don’t think it would be an immediate fix and it would take time for me to get used to them, but they gave me a headache whenever I wore them.

So, I’m wearing them right now and anytime I look out of frame it takes a minute to refocus when I look back up and things still aren’t in focus the way they should be. I can feel the headache already coming on and I’ve only been wearing them for about 5 minutes. I think it’s about time to go back to the eye doctor again. But first I’m going to try out the blue light ones and see if I like that style. For now, these glasses are coming back off.

So back to my goals for the year.

I posted a few weeks ago some classes I would like to take and things I would like to learn, so that’s one of them. But I’m not working on that currently outside of my normal school stuff. But I graduate in May so I’ll be able to start that soon.

  1. Declutter my Home and Life
  2. Be More Active in the Community
  3. Be More Positive (Toward Myself and Others)
  4. Seek Help With Infertility
  5. Start Internship
  6. Graduate
  7. Find a New Job/Get Promoted
  8. Eat Better
  9. Yoga More
  10. Meditate
  11. Study Crystals More
  12. Start Learning ASL and Korean Again
  13. Do Memory Exercises

Those were my goals. I haven’t done/started doing any of these. Well, I’ve started a few very briefly. I came up with a plan for decluttering, but I haven’t implemented that. The rest are either time issues or just things that I can’t really track well.

So here’s how I’m going to work on some of these and I hope this method works for you as well. Try doing this for every goal and writing it all down.

Starting out with number 2, I want to be more active in the community.

First, ask why you want to do that goal.

I want to be more active in the community because I’m here to communicate with other readers and other people going through what I am.

Without the why, you have no motivation to be doing something. Once you figure out why, you will be able to go back to that whenever you need that push to continue.

Next, come up with a plan.

Now that you have the what and the why, you need to figure out the how and when. They kind of go hand in hand.

So for being more active in the community, I’ve joined a twitter group where we each share links to our recents posts and the rest of us like, comment, and share their posts.

For Instagram, I’m in a thing where people can comment on a picture to do a certain task on 49 other people’s things. That seems like a lot but it can be anything from liking and commenting on a certain post, liking three of their most recent photos, spamming them, or following them.

For YouTube, I still have nothing like that. But I’m going to try to spend the 30 minutes in the morning while I’m waiting for my husband to get out of work to watch some Booktube. So I have a plan for that as well.

Now that we have a plan, it’ll be easier to do it. Finding the time to do these things and making them a priority is key.

I’m going to sign off here now and go through the rest of my goals and do this. I hope you all are going to do the same and let me know how it works out for you. If you found a newfound motivation to reach these goals.

What goals are you struggling with most this year?

Thanks so much for joining me and comment below with the answer. I’ll see you all in the next one. Bye!
