I Finally Finished a Book! | Weekly Update Aug 31-Sep 6, 2020

Good morning everyone! I hope you had a wonderful week last week and that this week is a good one for you as well. Today I’m going to be wrapping up what I did last week and letting you know my plans for this coming week.

I may not have done too much this week, but I finished a book and I’m very happy with that. Not to mention the book I finished was a hefty one and it finished off a series!

Let’s get right into my weekly update.

Books I Read Last Week

*I got this manga as an ARC from Viz Media and Netgalley for my honest review*

This manga is the continuation of the story following a girl who use to be an idol but has gone into hiding after being assaulted by someone at a media event.

There are trigger warnings for assault, sexual assault, pedophelia.

Overall, I really enjoyed this volume. This manga series is a tough one to get though, but I think that it’s a good one to read if you can handle the topics of assault and especially assault against women and idols.

You can check out my full review that I posted on Instagram here.

Supernova is the final book in the Renegades trilogy and I’m so glad that I was finally able to finish this series. I absolutely loved the entire thing and I’m so sad that it’s over. But glad that I got it done finally.

This completed quite a few yearly challenges as well, so there certainly wasn’t any loss while reading this book.

Overall I gave both this and Not Your Idol Vol 2 five stars. There were issues that I could find in both, but not enough for me to take away any stars, in my opinion.

Shows I Watched Last Week

I didn’t finish any shows this week, but I did continue watching Charmed and watched bits and pieces of my husband’s rewatch of Death Note.

Games I Played Last Week

I was going to do a review on this game, but I just couldn’t bring myself to do that, though. I hated this game so much. I don’t know if it was just because his game isn’t my style of game or if it was actually just that bad.

So the premise is that you’re a stylist and end up running into these 5 different celebrities all with different personalities. You have the nice guy, the flirt, the jerk, the seemingly nice guy who is an actual jerk. The actor, the comedian, the rock star, etc. It’s just all very cliche and over the top.

I only played the trial of the game, so the prologue and I did two of the beginning portions of two of the guys. I did one bad boy and one good. And neither of them interested me at all. I certainly won’t be buying this game and definitely not continuing on with it.

Books I Want To Read This Week

I’ve been gradually working on this book, but I’ve been enjoying what I’ve been reading. I’m not far enough into it to have any solid thoughts or predictions about it, but I’m interested to continue reading it.

Since I finished Supernova, it’s time I get started on another audiobook. And that’s going to be The Chestnut Man.

I’m currently actively working on this ARC that I received from Entangled Publishing and Netgalley. I’m hoping to finish it early on in the week so I can get my review up for it soon. This one is already out and has been for a while. I’m working on getting to my backlists.

Another backlist ARC that I got from Entangled Publishing. I’m hoping this one will be another quick read for me.

Shows I’d Like to Watch This Week

I would like to finish the final season of Charmed. I will say that as of writing this post, I’ve only got a few episodes left of season 8, and it’s honestly one of my least favorite seasons.

I would also like to watch through Umbrella Academy and finish that so I can get a review up for you all next week.

And that’s going to be it for me! I don’t really have any plans for playing any new games this week, so my focus will be on watching these shows and reading these books!

I hope you all enjoyed and don’t forget to comment with your plans for this week.

Thank you all so much for joining me and I’ll see you soon!
