Good morning everyone. I hope you’re all doing well. Today I’m going to be talking about 5 books I wish I had listened to rather than physically reading.
So, this is pretty much going to be a list of books I either read before I started listening to audiobooks, found boring while physically reading and I think I would have enjoyed them more if I listened to them, or just books that I loved but heard that the audiobooks were amazing so I’m sad I missed out on listening to them first.
So, let’s get right into this and don’t forget to comment with any books that you would have rather listened to!
1. Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
I really enjoyed Six of Crows when I read it, but when I decided to read Crooked Kingdom, I ended up listening to it. There was nothing wrong with the narrators, but because I read the first book physically, I had a sound in my head that they sounded like and the audiobook was not that sound. So I ended up not enjoying it as much.
And I know that the narration was good so I would have really liked to have gotten the chance to listen to the entire series.
2. The Illuminae Files by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
This one is one of the ones that I didn’t really enjoy my physical read of. But I would have loved to read it the first time with the audio and following along in the book. I tried doing that once already with my reread, but it didn’t work out really.
That being said, the audiobook was such a production and well done, at least the bit that I listened to, and I’m very sad about the fact that I missed out on listening to it my first read through.
3. When Dimple Met Rishi by Sandhya Menon
So, for this one, I think that I would have enjoyed the book more if I had listened to it. I can’t put my finger on what I didn’t like about this or any of Sandhya Menon’s works really, but I just don’t tend to enjoy them. I may give the next book that I have to read a chance on audio and I’m really hoping that I enjoy it. I want to love these books, but there’s just something about them.
4. Any Atticus Poetry
Honestly, I adore Atticus’s poetry and I would LOVE to have it read to me. I may see if I can find some more Atticus as read poetry, but we’ll see. Honestly almost any poetry that I read, I would love to have read to me. There’s just something about it that I adore.
5. Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter
To be completely honest, I don’t even know if this book has an audiobook. I tried to read this book and I just couldn’t get through it. I don’t even remember what it was that put me off to it. But I think if I had been listening to it, I would have pushed through it more and actually finished and maybe enjoyed it.
I really wanted to enjoy it because it was my first book from OwlCrate, but I just didn’t.
And that’s going to be it for this one! I hope you all enjoyed! While I don’t really regret physically reading any of these books, I would have loved to experience them on audio.
I don’t know if all of these audiobooks WOULD have been better than physically reading them, but I do think that it would have made me enjoy the books the same amount, if not more.
Thank you all so much for joining me and I hope you stick around for more! I’ll see you all very soon in the next post!
